The East Broad Top Railroad and Coal Company began operation in 1872 to mine and transport coal from Broad Top Mountain in central Pennsylvania. The EBT held the distinction of being the only surviving original narrow-gauge railroad east of the Rockies for much of its history, until ceasing operations in 2011.
